Frequently asked questions

Direct answers about treatment, fees, timing, travel and citizenship, with linked sources.

Is a child born in Saipan a US citizen?

Under the longstanding birth-citizenship rule, generally yes: a citizen, rather than a green-card holder.

State Department 8 FAM 302.2 describes citizenship at birth in the Northern Mariana Islands on or after 4 November 1986 under Covenant section 303. Check administrative measures, court orders and parental-status exceptions effective when applying for registration and a passport.

Does IVF in Saipan itself confer US citizenship?

No. The place of IVF treatment and the place of birth are different matters.

Retrieval, embryo culture or transfer in Saipan does not itself give an embryo, child or parents US citizenship. Childbirth, obstetric costs and entry documents must be planned separately.

Do parents automatically receive green cards?

No. A child’s citizenship does not automatically grant parents residence or work authorisation.

A US citizen aged 21 or older may petition for parents in the immediate-relative category without an annual visa quota. Applications, financial sponsorship and admissibility requirements still apply.

Can Chinese passport holders visit Saipan without a visa?

Eligible Chinese citizens with CNMI EVS-TAP authorisation may visit the Northern Mariana Islands, normally for up to 14 days.

This pathway is limited to the Northern Mariana Islands, not Guam or the US mainland. Treatment or childbirth may require a different or longer stay. Confirm the route for the genuine purpose of travel; authorisation does not guarantee entry.

Is this website the treating hospital?

This website provides fertility information and consultation coordination; medical care is delivered by the receiving institution.

Confirm the institution, physician, medical payment recipient and coordination scope. Diagnosis, prescriptions, retrieval, laboratory procedures and transfer are performed by the receiving medical team.

Which services can I enquire about?

IVF, ICSI, egg or sperm freezing, donor resources and third-party family-building.

Existing-embryo transfers and single or LGBTQ+ family plans can also be discussed. Availability, eligibility, resources, documents and waiting times need individual confirmation.

How much should I budget for IVF?

The fee tool’s default combination is $26,100–31,100, subject to an individual written quotation.

It combines retrieval/culture $15,000, medication $3,000–8,000, anaesthesia $800, ICSI $1,800, freezing $1,000 and one FET $4,500. Initial tests, transfer medication, annual storage, travel, accommodation and extra treatment are excluded. ICSI is not required for everyone.

Does $15,000 include the entire IVF treatment?

No. It is the base reference for retrieval and embryo culture.

Stimulation medication, anaesthesia, ICSI, freezing, PGT, transfer and travel or accommodation are additional. Compare identical scopes and service counts before comparing totals.

How long does an IVF cycle take?

A complete cycle is commonly around 3–6 weeks; that is not necessarily your time in Saipan.

The NHS describes a 3–6 week cycle reference, including approximately two weeks of stimulation. Preparation, culture and transfer arrangements affect timing, and frozen transfer may be a separate stage. Obtain your personal dates before booking.

Is ICSI always more successful than conventional IVF?

No. Evidence does not support using ICSI as a universal success-rate add-on.

An ASRM 2026 committee opinion cites a trial of 2,387 couples without severe male-factor infertility: live birth was 33.8% with ICSI and 36.6% with conventional IVF, without a statistically significant difference. These are study results, not Saipan clinic success rates.

Can I enquire without examination reports?

Yes. You do not need to arrange a complete set of tests before the first enquiry.

Share your interests, treatment history, departure city and preferred timing. The receiving clinician confirms which reports are accepted, their validity and additional tests. Use the clinic’s confirmed channel for full records.

Must retrieval and transfer happen during the same visit?

No. Retrieval and transfer can be arranged in separate stages.

A fresh transfer may occur during the retrieval treatment stage. Frozen transfer or waiting for test results usually requires later preparation. The number of visits and duration depend on your individual plan.
